Head to Head Harbour Walk

The Head to Head Harbour Walk is a 120km charity walk around the Manukau Harbour and it’s happening for the first time on 7-8 December!

All proceeds from the event will go towards implementing a Crackerjack Kids Project at Randwick Park School in Manurewa. Crackerjack Kids helps children develop their character and find a positive direction in life. It’s a groundbreaking new resource for primary school teachers, using game play to teach kids essential character traits and life skills.

Event organiser Paul Dickson says Head to Head is an example of how good things can happen when plans go astray.

“A few of the lads in our office were planning on doing the Oxfam Trailwalk in Taupo this year to raise a few dollars for Oxfam.  Unfortunately due to timing and injuries, that plan fell through so I decided to plan another event and raise money for a local cause instead,” says Paul.

His search for a worthy cause to support led him to Quantum Sports and the Crackerjack Kids charity.

“It ticked all the boxes and most importantly it meant we would be raising funds for the local community.”

Finding willing participants has been the easy part, with teams confirmed from Middlemore Hospital, Quantum Sport, New World Manurewa and online magazine Gather and Hunt, among others.

At the time of writing supporters had pledged over $6,400 on the Head to Head Givealittle page.
